Objectives:
- Compare the agronomic performance (plant & root growth, yield, drought and pest tolerance), profitability and sensory quality of grafted and non-grafted Robusta coffee
- Investigate the environmental performance of grafted coffee and cocoa systems using LCAs with a focus on carbon, fertilizer use and water consumption
- Assess current best practices and market conditions of grafted coffee and cocoa nurseries
- Build the coffee and cocoa sectors’ capacity to produce grafted mini-cuttings through technology transfer, plant material transfer and training of staff
- Assess the short and long-term agronomic performance of new grafted mini-cuttings of cocoa and Robusta coffee (using six new wild coffee species) cultivated in new on-farm demo plots
